Draca (singular Dracos), called Togra in Ander language, are a sapient species of Enderia in Imperialism of Illagers who originated in eastern Enderia.

Classification[]

Draca are grouped in clade Erectoscela, a type of Draconia with the common trait of theropodian body shape. Their closest living relative is the Dwarf Dragons, which are also notably very intelligent.

Biology[]

Anatomy[]

Draca are theropodian in shape, possessing a black scaly skin with grey underbelly. Their wings, derived from modified middle limbs, are colored grey each possessing four fingers, connected by a black membrane. They have a long tail, used for balance. Their long arms are each equipped with three fingers, one of which is opposable, allowing acute precision in holding and manipulating objects. Their head is connected to the body by a short, bulky neck. They have a pair of magenta eyes, with the capability of spotting objects from very far. Their long, slim snout is often used to aid in manipulating objects. They have dull nails on their fingers and toes, unsuited as a weapon but permits more acute manipulation.

Behavior[]

Draca are carnivores, preferring meat as their source of nutrition. They naturally hunt in the sky, using their sharp eyes to detect potential prey. Using their intelligence, they isolate the desired prey and kill it using spears. As their bodyplan are ill-suited for throwing, they instead drop the spears high from the sky, letting the accumulated kinetic and potential energy to do the job.

Reproduction[]

Draca lay eggs in clutches of two to four. The females have little role in tending the eggs and newborns, as males do the job instead.

Society[]

Before the dawn of civilization, Draca live in large groups, each group consisting of more than 15 individuals, led by an alpha male. In one group, the lower males tend and teach the youngsters while the females go out to hunt. After a male grows up, they may either stay in the group or leave to form a new group. A male may challenge the alpha male for the status, which can lead to a fierce duel to death, with the victor claiming the title as the alpha male.

Being naturally patriarchal resulted in many Draca nations to be ruled by a male, though a small number of nations have defied this tradition and have a female as the leader instead.
