King Fredrick Rutherford was the ruler of the Vardoclya Kingdom, spouse of Noreena Rutherford, and father of Xena Rutherford. He appeared in the first episode of Imperialism of Illagers, Our Song.

Appearance

Fredrick was a villager with blue eyes and brown skin. He wears a golden crown with an emerald embedded to signify his rule in the kingdom. He wears a red robe with golden buttons over a white clothing, as well as grey shoes.

Personality

He is a caring, but overprotective father to Xena, as he forbade her to go outside of the castle in fear of losing her.

Biography

Our Song

He (alongside Xena) first appeared in Our Song, where a carriage (with Frederick, Xena and a villager knight) leaving the Vardoclya Castle, going to the Obsardis Kingdom. The carriage carried them through the Datarus Plains, the Slatan Forest and the Obsardis Plateau, thus arriving to their destination. After a screen cut, the Vardoclya King and Princess were sitting on one side of a table, while Zandalfor with Atlas on the other side. Fredrick seemed to ask something to Zandalfor, and the latter replied to the question with an answer what shocked both Fredrick and Xena. Then, Kaios with Denise broke down the door and they grabbed down the Vardoclya King and Princess. After that, Atlas started to charge his soul magic and aimed it at Fredrick, while Zandalfor was grinning. Then, in a moment’s notice, Atlas shot Fredrick with his spell, absorbing his soul. And thus, ending the Vardoclya King’s life.
